For more than 2,000 years, Block printing has been a way of reproducing images and text on paper and fabric both. The earliest known examples of block prints come from China. Initially, block printing was only used for artwork printed on fabric. Later, it was also applied to paper. The art of creating block print that is aligned as well as equal was a requirement felt quite early on in the history of the Indian fashion industry. There is archaeological evidence that an early form of block printing on textiles existed in India dating 3000 BCE, during the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation.
