Reiki and Mental Health
With people spending months hunkered down in their homes due to the lockdown extensions to combat COVID, this could take a collective toll on their mental health. This is why it would be a good idea to leverage the power of Reiki.
To practice Reiki at the home, perform each hand positions given below for about 20 minutes, focusing on each for about 2 minutes.
Hand Position 1: Place your hands together in a prayer position in the middle of your chest, just below your chin. Focus your attention on your inhalation and exhalation in this position.
Hand Position 2: Gently place both hands on top of the head while inhaling deep and relaxed breaths. Focus your attention on your hands on the top of your head.
Hand Position 3: Gently place both hands over your eyes while inhaling deep and relaxed breaths. Focus your attention on your hands over your eyes.
Hand Position 4: Gently place your right hand over your throat and the left hand over your heart while continuing the inhalation. Focus your attention on your throat and heart.
Hand Position 5: Gently place your hands just below the chest line with continued inhalation. The middle fingers should touch each other. Focus your attention on the area under your chest.
Hand Position 6: Move your hands one hand-width down from your chest line, gently placing them over the upper stomach and in the solar plexus area without stopping the inhalation practice. Focus your attention on this area of the body now.
Hand Position 7: Place your hands over the stomach and navel area and focus on these areas next while inhaling deeply.
Hand Position 8: Gently place both hands on the shoulder muscles and focus on these areas while inhaling.
Hand Position 9: Place your hands above the waist line, on the kidney area with continued inhalation.
Hand Position 10: Gently place your hands on the soles of your feet. Cross your left leg over your right knee to reach your left foot and right leg over your left knee to reach your right foot. Remember not to exert yourself.
However, do remember that Reiki is not a substitute for any severe mental health treatment. It can only be considered as a complementary form of healing along with the conventional medical treatment.
