Colours for the New Year

Time flies and how! And, before we know another year's end is around the corner. So we thought of quickly scanning the interior design colour trends by designers for you. This will help you choose your preferred colour and will also give you a chance to test it out on smaller patches much before you actually go into painting. Here are some of the colours that the top designers around the world can't get enough of and hopefully you will love them too!

The first and the unanimous favourite is definitely blue, to be more specific the blue of the Mediterranean which looks fabulous when paired with grey, pink or white. The next on the list is bold and vibrant shades like olive, orange and sour green which need to be played against each other for a bold and contemporary feel.

After the bold and vibrant come the lovely pastel shades of purple and orange sunsets, aqua blue, muted green and they can be paired with a shock of complementary neon colours. If pastels are not what you heart then probably neutrals could work for you and the buzz is that grey will be the hottest neutral in the next year. Pair it with dark charcoal furnishings and a pale ceiling for the perfect classic setting.

The mixing of textures, patterns and colours is also going to be huge in the upcoming year and a combination of white, beige and plum will be to die for. For those who love mixing colours, you could mix colours like pink, green, olive, purple and aqua blue. All of these shades are warm and organic and can go with any colour you pair it with. By now you must have figured out that there are no actual rules to abide by, just let your creativity flow and pair the classics with eccentric accents to keep things exciting!

So as you make up for not socializing much in the monsoons, these hands on tips will get you through the party season like a breeze. We understand party planning can be quite hectic, especially the decoration part. But with some simple tricks, life will seem like a party. Don your party hats and celebrate!

  1. Theme it up - Decide a theme for your party. Having themes helps you plan everything better. Everything falls into a scheme like table setting, decoration pieces, food, entertainment, etc. For décor, you can choose a classy Tuscan villa décor theme complete with rustic chandeliers, grape leaves, and wine bottles.
  2. Party setup - Setting a scene helps elevate the feel of the ambience. Adding simple details to an already existing set up can turn around the look of the place entirely. You can start up lighting up the space. Add fairy lights on trees, setup table lamps, candles all around and see the vibe change instantly. Place fresh flowers on the tables, create an entrance for the guests, and have customized table napkins for your guests. Just like that your home will turn into a fun and cozy entertainment zone.
  3. Stylish accessories - Usually we associate parties to paper plates and plastic cups but this is a definite no-no if you want to throw a stylish sit-down dinner.  Get the most stylish cutlery out, you've been carefully collecting for years now. Now's the time to delight your guests with some fine bone china. If you want it to be hassle-free then you can even opt for melamine dishes, they won't break and are easy to handle too.
  4. Life is outdoors - If you are planning to organize an outdoor party, make sure you have proper arrangements to beat the cold. To combat the chill, you can set up a fire pit with wood and matches ready. The bonfire set up also allows for games and interactions to happen around it.

So, kick off the party season in style with these simple yet efficient tips. Have a perfect seasonal get together that your guests will remember for years to come!

Décor Ideas for Large Rooms

Décor Ideas for Large Rooms

A lot has been spoken about styling for small rooms but we often forget the big ones. Big rooms come with their own set of challenges. Small rooms have issues like space; big rooms have issues like too much space! While big rooms can be great for entertaining a lot of people, they cannot serve as cosy or comfortable spaces for everyday living.

So how can you make a big space livelier? Here are some simple ways to achieve this. Read on.

Zone it out: In small rooms there's only so much space for a sitting area. In a larger space, you have an opportunity to create different areas like gaming zone, dining area, reading corner, etc. It depends on your needs as to how you wish to divide the space. For large families, you can create different sit outs and living spaces. If you have family members who are into gaming, a gaming area can be dedicated. You can create cosy nooks by creating special reading nooks to utilize the space better.

Create clear division lines: The expanse of your room can be a challenge, while decorating. Creating clear dividers can help break this emptiness. You can take help of beams, pillars, curtains, small walls or wallpapers to create these divisions. The couch can be placed having its back to demarcate a specific area or have huge plants or lamps as dividers.

Think big: When decorating a large room, you have to think of having big things like large sofas rather than collecting small ones, as it makes the room appear cluttered. Huge design pieces, coffee tables, lamps will do the trick for you.

The tall and short of it: If you have high ceilings then make sure you buy taller furniture to balance it out. Smaller furniture can make the ceiling look disproportionately large, disturbing the symmetry of the space. You can even opt for a taller bookcase, lamps and other accessories.

Have fun with the large space you have at hand and deploy these smart tips to make the most of it. Tell us if you found these tips useful, we are eager to know!
