Diwali is always a special time for all. The preparations for this celebration begin weeks, and sometimes months, in advance. My daughter comes home as much as she can, which isn’t as often as we would like. But when she does, it’s a cherished and precious time. We spend our days indulging in good food, movies, music and catching up with each other.
Diwali for us is all about happiness, and ever since she went to the US for her higher studies, we treasure this festival of lights even more. For the past two years, my daughter’s internships and college projects have kept her preoccupied and she hasn’t been able to make a home-visit since. Diwali without her hasn’t been the same but this year would be special. I just couldn’t wait to see her excited face as she pulled into our compound from the airport!
