This unique festival is being celebrated since 1998 in a place called Carinthia, in the south of Austria. It is a charmingly beautiful place flanked by the picturesque turquoise lake Worthersee.
This festival is credited with being the founder of the modern body painting art movement and this year is the 18th edition of the World Bodypainting Festival. Beginning from 29th June till 5th July, the fiesta will see artists from more than 45 different nations trying to outdo each other at this spectacular event. The pre-programs consist of professional training and education programs for body painters through various workshops and seminars.
The main days of the function are held on the 3-4th July, where the festival arena turns into a colourful open art park! It’s definitely a one of its kind experience to witness the first main day of the festival. The highlight of the first day is the variety of colours and the models glowing with the use of fluorescent lights under black light and other stunning effects. The artists are allowed to tell their stories with the help of colour, sound and dance.
The old and young alike throng this festival because along with fascinating painted bodies, the festival also hosts international bands, street musicians and DJs. The parties of this festival are also vivid club experiences. The visitors adorn fancy colourful costumes, extreme make-up, with body paint and masks, and the party goes on until early in the morning.
