It was on this fateful day fifteen years ago that David Beckham and the then Victoria Adams decided to take their relationship to the next level by taking their much anticipated wedding vows at the 560-acre estate of the 1794, gothic Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland outside Dublin, Ireland. The couple was famously dubbed by the media as Posh and Becks and the most notable thing about the lovebirds was their fetish for turning up in matching and colour co-ordinated outfits. The couple’s fetish for matching outfits reflected in their wedding as well, as Victoria wore a crown and a fitting ivory wedding dress designed by Vera Wang, which was matched by David’s ivory and cream suit.
It is interesting to note how a very modern Posh decided to settle for the traditional ivory coloured wedding gown albeit in its modern structured and strapless form. Ivory is considered to be a calming colour carrying the same pureness, softness and cleanliness of white, but is slightly richer and a touch warmer than white and represents pleasantness with a touch of luster. David, too, like the dutiful husband, followed his wife’s lead and opted for an ivory and cream suit.
The matching fixation of the madly in love couple carried on to their reception too! For the reception, Victoria wore what she described as a ‘Jessica Rabbit’ dress – a slim-fitting, strapless fishtailed gown of purple stretch satin, with a thigh-length split and bright-red lining, which matched her red nail polish with strappy silver sandals by Manolo Blahnik completing the outfit. David wore a matching purple Saturday Night Fever suit, which consisted of a double-breasted jacket with a red lining and matching purple wing-collared shirt and waistcoat. The trousers were teamed with purple suede Manolo Blahnik shoes. Moreover, Brooklyn had also been changed into a purple outfit to match his parents and together the three of them made for a striking family!
